The writing on the wall..... Store your treasures in heaven....

With a refugee crisis of unprecedented proportion (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_migrant_crisis), a war in the Middle East (http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-35681256), terrorist attacks carried out and in the planning, a financial crisis we just seem to have barely weathered and another one apparently looming (http://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/jan/12/beware-great-2016-financial-crisis-warns-city-pessimist), a rise in natural disasters (http://www.livescience.com/414-scientists-natural-disasters-common.html),  shooting sprees almost on a daily basis (http://www.wsj.com/articles/trying-to-hide-the-rise-of-violent-crime-1451066997)...the list goes on. And then to top it all off, Donald Trump running for president in the United States. These are very trying times for humanity as it appears so it is good for all of us to reflect on life in general and be sure to have our treasures stored in the right place (Matthew 6:20).

In the book of Daniel. chapter 5, the bible recounts the story of Belshazzar, a Babylonian king who is holding a great feast and for his and his lords' amusement, he has the holy Temple vessels brought in from conquered Jerusalem to drink out of them, thus defiling what was consecrated unto the Lord. As soon as he does so, a hand appears and writes these words onto the wall מנא, מנא, תקל, ופרסין (MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN),  which none of the king's diviners and magicians are able to decipher. Only when the queen suggests that Daniel the prophet, renowned for his wisdom is brought in, can the riddle be solved. Daniel interprets the message for the king:  "MENE, God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end; TEKEL, you have been weighed and found wanting; and PERES, the kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians" (also see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belshazzar%27s_feast

Many have joined those who are sounding the alarm at the fast rate of our world's decline into chaos and spiritual darkness and they point to the proverbial writing on the wall (see for example: http://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2016/January/Anne-Graham-Lotz-Warning-for-2016-Natl-Global-Situation-Will-Get-Worse)
God is trying to get a message across to humanity. Stop in your tracks now, reflect on your sins, fall on your knees, repent and pray for mercy like you have never prayed before. We must not ignore the warnings. There are too many signs to dismiss them. We would do so at our peril. Jesus is still reaching out his hands to us today, lets grasp them while we still can. Give your life over to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, the son of God who suffered and died for all our sins and who rose from the dead, conquering the power of darkness once and for all. Only if we accept his Lordship can we be saved for the bible is clear:

"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." Act 4:12

"
If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

"Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord" Act 3:19

"Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you" Revelation 3:3

Its time to repent and to call out for mercy..... give your life to Jesus.... Act's 16:31 (“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”).

And if you are a follower of Jesus already, go onto your knees also, and if you don't know of any sins to repent of ask Jesus to reveal any hidden sins not yet brought to the cross. If He reveals any, repent of them and then pray for your loved ones, your country and the world and intercede on their behalf. Nehemiah and Daniel interceded on behalf of their people, asking God for forgiveness of their sins (
http://www.bibleabookoftruth.com/TrueRepentanceAndRepentingOnBehalfOfOurNations.pdf). We can stand in the gap and do the same. It does not take away an individual's responsibility to repent of their sins personally but it can move the heart of God to lessen the severity of his punishment on a nation or even the world. Lets pray for that. Lets pray for an act of mercy and an outpouring of the Holy Spirit throughout the world, one that will soften the hearts and incline them to Jesus. Jesus said that no one can come to him unless the Father draws them (John 6:44). Lets pray that the Father will draw many to Jesus and lets pray that we will be ready at His return.
